"Dear Diary"
Dear Diary...wow, I wonder how this phrase actually comes across to today's Gen Z folks. Obviously, this is my new blog entry in more than a decade and I initially thought of writing this in a journal entry format. However, this idea about the word "diary" and its relatability to my potential audience suddenly popped up. I got a little concerned that the diary format is no longer appealing to my target audience. After all, when writing, aren't we taught to think about who we are writing for, our audiences? And Gen Z people are certainly one of them. I wonder if a "diary" is something they can still relate to, or do they find it so jurassic or archaic already, specially in this age of vlogging, and e-books? Is there anyone else enjoying writing or reading diaries among these digital natives? I really don't know. But what I do know is that writing diaries, or journaling, is therapeutic for me. And perhaps, writing these in the form of blogs is one way to leverage on the best of both worlds, or should I say, generations - combining the quintissential magic of writing diaries and the power of the internet and digital currency. In short, I can still express my sincerest thoughts which is the essence of writing diaries to begin with, but taking the form of blogging. After all, writing is indeed not just therapeutic, but also doesn't go out of style no matter the generations. So "dear diary", cheers to more blogging entries from this day forward!
